Tooling up for the future

News   •   Jun 23, 2015 15:35 CEST

This means that over 500 Airbus proprietary and vendor tools for the total Airbus range are now available for ad-hoc customer demand, repairs, retrofits and service bulletin implementation, increasing the global Tool Lease stock value available to more than $78 million USD.

Alexander Bernin, Head of Service & Support Management at Satair Group said: “The Airbus tool lease service allows customers to use Airbus-owned tools to maintain their aircraft. Customers avoid tying up capital in tools that are often expensive and not used regularly, but they also benefit from Airbus expertise knowing that the tools are modified to the latest standards, are calibrated correctly and certified for use wherever they need them.”

Airbus is the only focal point to acquire genuine Airbus tools and when sourcing from an Airbus channel a high level of quality and performance is ensured. For safety and quality purposes Airbus proprietary tools now have new marking plates visible on the boxes and tools to differentiate them from bogus tools. This visual quality stamp confirms to the customers that the tools come from an approved Airbus supplier, that they were inspected and certified by Airbus and that a three-year warranty is included.

Airbus tooling services support aftermarket maintenance activities by providing airlines and MROs with flexibility and certainty. Leasing is one part of the total service offering, alongside tool single sales, packages, repair, engineering support, and seminars. The Tool Lease Team supports all Airbus aircraft and is developing new capabilities to look after all your future needs regardless of what aircraft you operate.

Customised turn-key tool solutions that support special maintenance events e.g. Long Term Lease Solutions are as well part of the Airbus tooling services portfolio.

Satair Group also repairs customer-owned tools, giving airlines and MROs access to the Airbus network of OEM repair shops and reduced administration workload. This service offers a full range of repair capabilities for more than 1200 Airbus and supplier tools with a quick turnaround time and fixed pricing for re-certification to return the tool back to service as soon as possible.

In addition, full engineering support to provide tools and technical documentation customised to operators’ maintenance operations is also offered. Tools seminars to acquire the know-how to reduce costs and to increase operational efficiency on a permanent basis also feature.
